This cooling drink is a delightful cross between the English Shandy and Lynchburg Lemonade. Big O and bourbon are perfect partners. Add the tartness of lemon and the frothy earthiness of beer — and just a touch of orange bitters — and get ready to be cooled, refreshed, and settled in for a well-deserved rest.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • ¾ oz Big O Ginger Liqueur
  • ⅓ oz bourbon
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • 4 oz Lager beer (any quality, chilled lager)
  • 4 dashes orange bitters

Instructions

  1. Combine Big O, bourbon, and lemon juice.
  2. Stir.
  3. Pour into pilsner glass and top with lager making sure to keep a ¼ inch head of foam.
  4. Add bitters on top of foam.
  5. Garnish side of glass with orange or lemon wheel.
