The John and Jackie “O” Flip

DIFFICULTY:

Flips can be a challenge, but if done well, they are a rich, silky cocktail perfect for winter. This one adds the butteriness of Blanton’s bourbon and the spice of Big O with the tartness of lemon/lime. Be sure to shake the egg and sour mix before adding the ice to ensure the pleasant silkiness of this drink.

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Blanton’s Bourbon
  • 1 oz Big O Ginger Liqueur
  • 1½ oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 dash Peychaud’s Bitters

Instructions

  1. Dry shake (without ice) the egg with the lime juice.
  2. Add ice, bourbon and Big O.
  3. Shake vigorously, strain into a chilled flip glass.
  4. Garnish with a dash of Peychaud’s Bitters and grated cinnamon.
