When we heard that Buddy Guy (one of our favorite Blues Gurus) in Chicago preferred cognac, we set about developing a series of cognac-based cocktails in his honor. This year-round favorite is cooling, citrusy, and tickles your nose with bubbles compliments of a nice Prosecco.



  • 1½ oz Big O Ginger Liqueur
  • 1 oz cognac
  • 2 long strips orange zest (pith removed)
  • 1 long strip cucumber peel
  • Prosecco


  1. Lightly press 1 orange zest and the cucumber peel in a mixing tin.
  2. Add Big O Ginger Liqueur, cognac and ice. Shake until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a wine glass and top with prosecco.
  4. Garnish with remaining orange zest or a strip of candied ginger.
