Watermelon Martini


Summer brings to mind many pleasures, and one of our favorites is watermelon. Cool and refreshing, this cocktail combines the cool, sweetness of watermelon with the spice of ginger and the breezy freshness of mint and basil. This is a perfect martini for summer evenings on the patio.



  • 4 oz chilled seedless watermelon
  • ¾ oz Big O Ginger Liqueur
  • ¾ oz vodka
  • ¼ oz mint (or basil) simple syrup


  1. Cut watermelon into 1-inch chunks, and assemble all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend at high speed until incorporated.
  3. Allow liquids to settle for a minute, strain into martini glass, and garnish with a mint (or basil) leaf.



  • 1 cup pure cane sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh basil or mint


  1. Stir together ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and boil 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes.
  4. Pour liquid through a wire-mesh strainer into a cruet or airtight container, discarding basil or mint.
  5. Cover and chill 4 hours. Syrup may be stored in refrigerator up to 1 month.
