DIFFICULTY:

Wine is a great addition to cocktails, adding its own barrel notes, tannins, and muted fruit flavors. This cocktail uses wine to enhance and soften the spice of Big O and rye whiskey and balance the lemon and orange of the dry curacao.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz rye whiskey
  • ¾ oz Big O Ginger Liqueur
  • ¼ oz orange liqueur
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz red wine

Instructions

  1. Shake whiskey, Big O, orange liqueur, and lemon juice with ice.
  2. Strain into old fashioned glass with ice.
  3. Slowly pour red wine over top of drink.
